About the ACW

WHAT IS THE ACW ?????

bullet

The ACW is a living, changing organism within  the church -- not only an organization.

bullet

The ACW purpose as stated in its prayer, is to contribute through Worship, Learning and Service.  An active arm of the church, it was founded over 30 years ago by the Church Year, the Mothers’ Union, the Chancel Guild and the Women’s Auxiliary (or W.A.).

bullet

Today, as a wide umbrella group, it may reflect some of the special interests of its four founding organizations, but it is not limited to their programs.

bullet

The ACW is designed to minister in many ways to church needs as well as to current broad issues such as health, abuse, education, and poverty among others.

bullet

We connect in various ways to women around the world:  nationally through the diocesan presidents across Canada; internationally with the Anglican Women’s Network; with our sister diocese in Cape Town, South Africa, as well as with other faith groups.

bullet

Membership is open to all Anglican Church women.  There is no invitation needed to join.

PURPOSE

The purpose of Anglican Church Women in the Diocese of Toronto is to be a focus for Christian community among all Anglican women, affirming their gifts and encouraging their ministries through worship, learning and service.

ACW PRAYER

Almighty and eternal God,

Enable us through worship,

Learning and service,

To live a life in Christ,

That, strengthened by the Holy Spirit,

We may show forth your love

To others throughout the world.

Amen.
